Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 July 2026
This policy explains what personal data Competitor Watch collects, why, and what your rights are. We handle information in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Competitor Watch is a website research tool operated by Websodigital, a UK web design and SEO studio. Websodigital is a trading name of Daniel Stoychev, who operates as a sole trader and is the data controller for the data described here.
- Trading name: Websodigital (Daniel Stoychev, sole trader)
- Email: [email protected]
- Address: 110 Rhosddu Road, Wrexham, LL11 2NG, United Kingdom
- ICO data protection register reference: ZC207002
What data we collect
- The website address you enter for a snapshot (a business domain is not personal data on its own, but we store it with the result).
- Your email address, only if you choose to give it to unlock a full snapshot.
- Your IP address, used briefly for security and to stop abuse of the tool (rate limiting).
- The snapshot results we generate for a domain you check.
What we collect about the websites we snapshot
Snapshots are built only from publicly available pages (homepage, robots.txt, sitemap), fetched the same way any visitor or search engine would. We store structural summaries and short excerpts, not copies of pages, and we do not build profiles of individual people from them. Website owners can have their site excluded at any time; see our bot page.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To run the snapshot you asked for and show you the result (our legitimate interest in providing the tool you invoked).
- To email you and occasionally send useful competitor-watching tips, if you unlocked a full snapshot (consent; every email has an unsubscribe).
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse, using your IP address (legitimate interest).
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We use a small number of trusted providers to run the service:
- Cloudflare: hosting protection, security and the anti-bot check on our forms.
- Our own server infrastructure (EU-hosted) where snapshots and form submissions are stored.
How long we keep it
Snapshot results are kept for a rolling period to power the service and then deleted. If you give us your email, we keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
Cookies
Competitor Watch does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Our anti-bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile) is privacy-first and does not track you across other websites.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict our use of it, or ask for a copy. Email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Continued use of Competitor Watch after a change means you accept the updated policy.
